Appel à chaires junior 2023

MIAI, l’Institut Interdisciplinaire en Intelligence Artificielle de Grenoble (https://miai.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/) ouvre quatre chaires junior, à pourvoir d’ici septembre 2023. MIAI est l’un des quatre instituts d’IA créés par le gouvernement français. Les recherches menées au sein de MIAI visent à couvrir tous les aspects de l’IA et de ses applications. Elles ont pour l’instant essentiellement porté sur les architectures matérielles et embarquées, l’apprentissage automatique et le raisonnement, la perception et les interactions, l’IA et la société, la santé, l’environnement et l’énergie et l’industrie 4.0.

Les chaires junior ont pour objectif de résoudre un problème important et ambitieux qui se rapporte à l’IA, que ce soit dans un domaine cœur ou un domaine d’application. Les personnes retenues bénéficieront d’un budget de 250k€ pour toute la durée de la chaire ; elles feront partie de MIAI et du réseau des 3IA qui comprend, outre MIAI, les instituts de Paris, Nice et Toulouse, et qui fournit un cadre de recherche extrêmement dynamique.

Seules les personnes ayant soutenu leur thèse après janvier 2014 (après janvier 2014-n où n est le nombre d’enfants pour les femmes) et qui sont membres permanents, à Grenoble, du CEA, du CHU Grenoble Alpes, du CNRS, de GEM, de l’Inria, de l’Inserm ou de l’Université Grenoble Alpes sont éligibles à cet appel. La qualité des recherches en lien avec l’IA sera un critère déterminant pour la sélection des candidates et candidats.

Pour candidater

Les personnes intéressées doivent envoyer leur dossier de candidature à Manel Boumegoura (manel.boumegoura@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr) et Eric Gaussier (eric.gaussier@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr) avant le 11 mars 2023, 12h00. Le dossier doit comprendre un CV de 2 pages maximum, la liste complète des publications, deux lettres de référence et une description du projet de recherche de 4 pages maximum. Il est important, dans la description, d’expliciter l’ambition, l’originalité et l’impact potentiel des recherches proposées, ainsi que les collaborations existantes et envisagées dans le cadre du projet.

Démarrage et durée

Les chaires sont prévues pour une période de 3 à 4 ans. Elles devront démarrer au plus tard le 1er septembre 2023.

Call for Junior Chairs 2023

MIAI, the Grenoble Interdisciplinary Institute in Artificial Intelligence (https://miai.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/), is opening four junior chairs in AI. MIAI is one of the four AI institutes created by the French government and is dedicated to AI for the human beings and the environment. Research activities in MIAI aim to cover all aspects of AI and applications of AI with a current focus on embedded and hardware architectures for AI, learning and reasoning, perception and interaction, AI & society, AI for health, AI for environment & energy, and AI for industry 4.0.

These chairs aim to address important and ambitious research problems in AI-related fields and will partly pave the way for the future research to be conducted in MIAI. Successful candidates will be allocated a budget of 250k€ and will be part of MIAI and the French network of AI institutes (comprising, in addition to MIAI, the AI institutes in Paris, Toulouse and Nice) which provide a very dynamic environment for conducting research in AI.

To be eligible, candidates must have defended their PhD after January 2014 for male applicants and after 2014-n, where n is the number of children, for female applicants. They must also hold a permanent position in Grenoble, either at CEA, CHU Grenoble Alpes, CNRS, GEM, Inria, Inserm or Univ. Grenoble Alpes. Lastly, they should be pursuing internationally recognized research in AI-related fields (including applications of AI to any research field).

Each application should comprise a 2-page CV, a complete list of publications, two reference letters and a 4-page description of the research project which can target any topic of AI or applications of AI. It is important to emphasize, in the project description, the ambition, the originality and the potential impact of the research to be conducted, as well as the collaborations the candidate has or will develop with researchers in and outside Grenoble in order to achieve her or his research goals.

Starting date and duration

Each chair is intended for 3 to 4 years, starting no later than September 2023.
